UGC try-on / haul

A creator receiving, trying on or using the product (fashion/beauty/lifestyle).

The haul format: a creator shown before wearing the item, then wearing it, then in a run of poses and macro detail shots that read the fit, the fabric and the finish.

When to use it

Apparel, footwear, jewellery, bags and beauty, where the buying question is "what does this look like on a person". Nothing else in the catalog shows drape and scale on a body as directly.

The beat structure

Pre-wear with a plain bag and the product not visible; wearing it, full-body on a locked camera at peak reaction; a front pose at a different distance; a hand-free macro on the fabric; a turn; a second macro on a different detail; a style pose in another room; a final settled look. The outfit changes once and never changes back.

The thing to get right

Mirrors and reflections are banned outright — no mirror selfies, no shop windows, no phone screens. A reflected version of the outfit is a second chance for the model to render it differently, and it is where try-on renders usually break.

The format at a glance

  • Output — a video ad.
  • Structure — 4 beats, each one a separately planned shot.
  • FamilyCreator & UGC video.
  • Recipe idugc_tryon, which is what you name when you ask for it by hand or from an agent.

Can the creator film in a mirror?

No. Mirrors, shop windows and phone screens are banned outright, because a reflection is a second rendering of the same outfit and the two rarely match. Everything is shot to camera instead.

Formats built around a person on camera — the talking-head, the unboxing, the try-on, the demo. These are the highest-volume paid-social formats on TikTok, Reels and Shorts, and the ones where realism matters more than polish.

  • UGC talking-head — a real creator reviewing/recommending the product straight to camera (TikTok/Reels)
  • UGC unboxing — a creator excitedly opening/unpacking the product
  • UGC tutorial / demo — a creator demonstrating how the product works, step by step
  • UGC product hero — UGC where the PRODUCT is the sole focal hero — close, tactile, hands-on (little/no creator face)
  • This gadget saved me — a creator framing the product as the thing that fixed a specific everyday frustration ("this literally saved me")
  • Secret hack reveal — a creator revealing a surprising clever hack or hidden use for the product ("nobody knows you can do this")
