A candid phone-camera photograph that looks like a customer took it — imperfect framing, ordinary light, no art direction.
When to use it
Cold social traffic, where a polished product photo announces itself as an ad. It is also the cheapest way to build a library of feed-native creative.
The thing to get right
The imperfection has to be plausible rather than decorative. Slightly-off framing and ordinary lighting are convincing; heavy fake grain and a deliberate tilt are not.
The format at a glance
- Output — a still image ad.
- Structure — a single frame, with the copy composited on top.
- Family — Product photography.
- Recipe id — ugc_photo, which is what you name when you ask for it by hand or from an agent.
How imperfect should it look?
Plausibly, not decoratively. Slightly off framing and ordinary indoor light are convincing. Heavy fake grain and a deliberate tilt announce that somebody chose them, which is the one thing the format is trying not to do.
